BASE BUTTER is a leading skincare brand redefining the perception of beauty and its impact on our relationship with our skin. Co-founder She’Neil Spence describes the inner workings of Base Butter before Nana came on board: ‘There was no clear division of responsibilities or proper planning.’ The co-founders were losing some of their love for the business and the day-to-day stress was impacting their wider lives.

ABENA BOAMAH of HANAHANA BEAUTY (CUSTOMER SUPPORT)

Hanahana Beauty is a consciously clean skincare and wellness brand whose mission is to disrupt the global beauty industry. Hanahana wants women to feel smooth and confident in their own skin, freeing themselves from arbitrary beauty standards.
Founder Abena Boamah describes the inner workings of Hanahana when she first reached out to Amenado Consulting: ‘Customer service communication was not happening efficiently. We needed someone to take over and elevate our customer service experience.’ The only hesitation before investing? ‘I wanted to make sure I had sustainable finances to support the position, but the need was strong as the business was scaling.’
With no systems yet in place, Nana and her team sprung into action. They built out a complete customer support system, which included mapping out the customer journey, deciding on a CRM to handle tickets and manage communication and building out the scripts for customer support tickets. Nana also trained a support team member to execute the new system.

KENYA CRAWFORD

Kenya Crawford is a licensed psychotherapist in private practice who specializes with people of color and LGBTQI people navigating traumas, depression, anxiety and relationships. She fosters spaces of radical and authentic healing through consultation, therapy and coaching services.
Kenya describes her typical day when she first considered Amenado Consulting: ‘I was spending my days doing scheduling, following up on appointment reminders and invoice reminders.’ Kenya was losing business as she scrambled to follow up on and maximize potential leads. Something had to change.
‘I had tried HoneyBook before which has a scheduler platform, but I needed an actual human!,’ Kenya explains. ‘I had met you previously and really enjoyed your energy! Although, with various changes in the flow of my work, I wasn’t sure if I had enough ‘work’ for an assistant to do. I chose to invest in working with you because I knew it would benefit my mental health and my overall business success.’
With Nana’s support, Kenya stepped away from the ‘doing’ to focus on bringing in business and running consult calls. Nana and her team built out a workflow including Dubsado setup and email templates for all the ‘in between’ steps. Essie Spice develops, creates and sells delicious products made from indigenous, Ghanian-grown, legacy spices. These sauces, rubs and other products represent bottled-up joy in a jar.
Founder Essilfua describes the state of Essie Spice before working with Amenado Consulting. ‘There were a lot of moving parts and growing pains. But we needed to grow because there was no way around it.’ Essilfua needed someone to come in and oversee all these moving parts (inventory, product, marketing), hold her accountable and track all of that on an ongoing basis.
To begin with, the idea of getting outside help felt like a stretch, but Essilfua soon realized that Nana was up to the challenge. She says: ‘It was a lot of work to explain things, but you made the effort to understand and get up to speed with different facets and parts of the business.’ The most appealing aspect of the way you worked was ‘your initiative and drive. We also have similar backgrounds so you understand a lot of my peculiar issues.’
